Licensing bodies
RYA: Royal Yachting Association, The English seamanship and boat handling
qualifications. Up to 24mt commercial yachts, recognised World Wide.
MCA: Maritime Coast Guard Agency deals with commercial certification and writes
the laws concerning British Flagged vessels and vessels inside UK waters. Cover
commercial yachts up to 3,000gt
USCG: US Coast Guard deals with commercial certification and writes the laws
concerning US Flagged vessels and vessels inside US waters.

For All
RYA Power boat level II
STCW 95 Basic safety training, This is made up of four separate courses.
- Personal survival techniques (Ref A-VI/1-1).
- Fire prevention and fire fighting (Ref A-VI/1-2).
- Elementary first aid (Ref A-VI/1-3).
- Personal safety & Social responsibility (Ref A-VI/1-4).
For Deck Crew
RYA Yachtmaster.
For Engineers
MCA, Approved Engine Course (AEC)

direct and ask about a Certificate of Equivalent Competence (CEC)
